The bust comes after a lengthy investigation by the departments Narcotics and Organized Crime unit, said Capt. Richard Conklin.
"The investigation is still very much ongoing, but I have to congratulate the squad for superior work," Conklin said.
In addition to the pot, estimated to have a street value of $250,000 to $350,000, officers also seized 200 vape cartridges, with 73 percent THC, $6,572 in cash, as well as an illegal Tech9 assault weapon with a high capacity magazine. They also seized a 2007 Bentley, purchased with the profits from the drug operation, Conklin said.
The raid was carried out by members of the Narc unit along with uniformed officers and the Special Response Team (SWAT) at 16 Briar Brae Road because officers believed additional weapons might be involved.
Police said, the main target of the raid, Delroy Anderson, 51, was operating a vape cartridge factory: “This was a very large seizure and a very interesting investigation," Conklin said.
All arrested were native from Jamaica, several had immigration issues, as well as lengthy criminal histories.
Besides Anderson, those arrested included, Ricardo Dempster, 33, of Queens, Mario Dudley, 48, of Norristown, Pa., Gavin Elphie, 31, of Queens, Odane Levy, 34, of the Bronx, Garth Tyme, 50, of Kennesaw, Ga., and Abdullah Young, 40, of Norristown, Pa.
All were charged with possession of an illegal assault weapon, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of more than a kilo of marijuana, operating a drug factory and sale of a controlled substance.
Anderson bailed out on $400,000 bond. The others were being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
